Policy – federal and state – is an essential catalyst for the change needed to better connect education to opportunity.

One of the most powerful tools we have is our ability to support policymakers in their efforts to create more equitable opportunities for all learners.

We share what we are learning about effective public policy solutions that demonstrate how postsecondary education can create equitable pathways to opportunity, and work with policymakers to advance evidence-based policy and practices. 

Where we focus

To advance promising policy solutions, Strada’s work is grounded in our five focus areas:

  • Clear Outcomes: Everyone has access to accurate information about employment outcomes that can help them make informed decisions about postsecondary education.
  • Quality Coaching: Everyone has access to coaching that helps them reflect on their talents and interests, choose a career goal, map pathways through education, and navigate challenges.
  • Affordability: A quality education is within everyone’s reach. The cost of education is not an insurmountable obstacle for students.
  • Work-Based Learning: All learners have access to work-based learning experiences – including paid internships and apprenticeships –  which help connect their education and career aspirations.
  • Employer Alignment: All learners have access to programs that lead to quality jobs and mobility, and employers assess and advance individuals based on skills and experience, not only degrees.

How we advocate

We are committed to working side by side with policymakers to advance a holistic approach to improving policy so all learners have the opportunities and support they need to complete an education pathway and succeed in a meaningful career. To accomplish this, we engage directly with policymakers at the state and federal levels and with partners to identify and advance evidence-based policies in our five focus areas.
